Honey Nut Oatmeal Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour white whole wheat recommended
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Whisk together flour, oats, nuts, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together milk, eggs, butter, and honey in a medium bowl.
  3. Add liquid mixture to flour mixture and stir to combine.
  4. Heat waffle iron. Lightly spray waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray.
  5. Ladle and spread 1/3 batter onto waffle iron and bake according to the manufacturer's instructions. Repeat with remaining batter.
  6. Serve waffles immediately or keep warm on a rack in the oven on the lowest heat setting.
  7. Serve with your favorite waffle toppings and sides.
