Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground mace
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 pound cooked lump crabmeat
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon white ground pepper
  • 3 tablespoons butter cracker crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry

Instructions

  1. Place milk, lemon zest, mustard, mace, and nutmeg in a non-reactive metal bowl (stainless steel recommended) over simmering water. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Add crabmeat, half-and-half, butter, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring often.
  3. Add cracker crumbs and sherry. Stir and cook for 3 minutes. Serve immediately.
