Review of Hearty Burgundy by Gallo Family Vineyards, a California red wine blend of Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah, Petite Verdot, Grenache, and Cabernet.
The years are flying by at an ever increasing pace. It's hard to believe that 2 years have passed since I launched this blog. So much has happened and I've learned a great deal. Most important is that I have kept with my mission of sharing and connecting with the world. You can read about it with my official launch post "Let's Play" on August 8, 2011. What better way to celebrate than with a glass of wine? My choice for the celebration is Hearty Burgundy by Gallo Family Vineyards.
Why did I choose Hearty Burgundy? As it turns out, we have one big thing in common. We were both introduced to the world in 1964. Yes, that's right. We were "born" in the same year. We will be celebrating a 50 year milestone next year. Both of us have seen changes including taste. Gallo has tweaked their formula over the years and my tastes have changed. I would not have gone near a glass of red wine long ago and now I reach for one almost every day.
Hearty Burgundy is a red blend. It is made of Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah, Petite Verdot, Grenache, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The mix makes a medium body wine with dark berry and plum flavors. It is smooth and easy to drink. This is a wine to be served for a big crowd as it would please many palates. It is also budget-friendly. A 1.5 liter bottle is around $8. The price makes it a terrific everyday table wine. It is one to use when cooking a classic Boeuf Bourguignon or Coq Au Vin.
