Fresh Citrus Wine Punch by Magnolia Days

Have I mentioned it’s hot out there? I’m sure I have. So far this summer has been brutal. The trend will continue according to the forecast. All we can do is find ways to keep cool. Because as they say, the show must go on. So make a pitcher of Fresh Citrus Wine Punch when gathering with friends and family. It’s a refreshing drink sure to please a crowd.

The punch is loaded with vitamin C. The mix of fresh orange, grapefruit, lemon, and lime juices will brighten any celebration. I was inspired to make it when the kind folks at CK Mondavi sent an assortment of wines. Their chilled whites are so nice on a hot summer day. Using them in cocktails takes them into a whole new level of niceness.

It’s 5 o’clock anywhere and somewhere. That statement could not be any truer when it comes to Fresh Citrus Wine Punch. It’s perfect for brunch, showers, barbeques, potlucks, cocktail parties, and festivities of all kinds. Plus you have the ease of making a pitcher in advance. There’s no shaking, mixing, or blending to be done at the party.

Which wine goes in the punch? It was a tough choice between CK Mondavi’s Blonde Five, Moscato, and Sauvignon Blanc. All of them have citrus aromas or flavors. Yet I knew it had to be Moscato the moment I saw the winemaker’s notes: A refreshing before dinner wine and so perfect to add to party punch.

Serve with ice or not? I think it would be fine without ice when serving indoors. Remember to chill the citrus slices if using them for serving. For outside or if you prefer ice, then I suggest making a double batch and freezing part of it into cubes. Or you could make an ice ring and serve the punch in an actual punch bowl. The choice is yours.

Bring on the cheers with some punch! Call up your friends and invite them over. Make Creamy Cilantro Pea Dip, Tortellini Salad, and Grilled Wine and Cheese Pizza. Set out the pitcher of punch and let the fun begin. When do to this? Anytime. Remember that it’s 5 o’clock anywhere.
