Chocolate Grasshopper Mocha Mocktail
What exactly is a grasshopper cocktail? The standard grasshopper cocktail is made with equal parts crème de menthe and crème de cacao, shaken with ice and strained into a glass. I suggest that you read The Weird History of the Grasshopper for an overview.
This mocktail version adds chocolate syrup and coffee. It’s nonalcoholic and works well as an after-dinner dessert drink. If you like it, you can also get creative with some variations. Although in New Orleans you can still get a grasshopper served just like they were back in the 1950s, in the midwestern United States it’s evolved into a decadent blended drink that’s heavy on the ice cream.
Drink it for the nostalgia, or drink it for the sugar rush. It’s all good fun. If you like cocktails, check out all the beverage recipes. Also try this chocolate cocktail, the Chocolate Almond Coconut Martini!
