Skillet Chili Mac for #WeekdaySupper with #McSkilletSauce

Skillet Chili Mac | Magnolia Days

How can a day slip by so quickly? This is a question I am asking myself quite often lately. It seems like the hours disappear in a flash. I’m working away and look up at the clock to find it is time to make dinner. Actually, it is so close to dinnertime that I’m scrambling to put together a quick meal. Fortunately there are some ways to cut down on cooking time. One is what I used to make Skillet Chili Mac.

Certain foods cook quickly. Seafood and ground beef are perfect examples. It takes minutes to get them done. However those alone do not make a meal. This is where pasta, vegetables, and sauces come into the mix. Canned foods like beans and tomatoes are staples in my pantry. Some of my new pantry items are these skillet sauces made by McCormick. Put beef, pasta, tomatoes, beans, chili sauce, and cheese together and you have a fast and hearty meal in a jiffy.

Skillet Chili Mac is classic comfort food. I decided to make it on a day when a cold wind was blowing so hard it seemed to cut right through to the bone. While the pasta was cooking, I browned the ground beef and then stirred in McCormick’s Fire Roasted Garlic Chili Sauce, tomatoes, and beans. I also grated sharp cheddar cheese. Once the pasta was done and drained it went into the skillet along with the cheese. A quick stir and simmer is all it took to finish the meal. I served it with cornbread just as I always do when I make chili.

McCormick’s skillet sauces are great for quick meals. Three steps is all it takes to prepare them with meat or vegetables. You can also use them to create your own unique recipe. The sauces are made with all-natural herbs and spices. I’m glad I have an assortment of them in my pantry to use on days when there is little time to get dinner on the table. My grandma used to make chili mac, and for some reason, we always called it "junk". But we all loved it, so no idea why we called it that. You are bringing back memories of her with this simple and tasty dish!
